This file fixes the objects of the even-index Zeilberger–Zudilin construction for π\piπ, in the normalisation of Bai with exponents (a,b,c)=(2,4,6)(a,b,c)=(2,4,6)(a,b,c)=(2,4,6).

For n≥0n\ge 0n≥0 let

Rn(t)=5 t4n (t4+6t2+25)4n(25−t2)6n+1,Jn=i∫−1−2i−1+2iRn(t) dt=−∫−22Rn(−1+is) ds,R_n(t)=\frac{5\,t^{4n}\,(t^4+6t^2+25)^{4n}}{(25-t^2)^{6n+1}}, \qquad J_n=i\int_{-1-2i}^{-1+2i}R_n(t)\,dt=-\int_{-2}^{2}R_n(-1+is)\,ds ,Rn(t)=(25−t2)6n+15t4n(t4+6t2+25)4n,Jn=i∫−1−2i−1+2iRn(t)dt=−∫−22Rn(−1+is)ds,

the integral being taken along the vertical segment Re⁡t=−1\operatorname{Re}t=-1Ret=−1, where RnR_nRn has no poles. Up to sign, JnJ_nJn is the Zeilberger–Zudilin integral I2nI_{2n}I2n.

Let A(z)=(1+z)4 (2+6z+9z2+6z3+2z4)4A(z)=(1+z)^4\,(2+6z+9z^2+6z^3+2z^4)^4A(z)=(1+z)4(2+6z+9z2+6z3+2z4)4 and

coefn=[z6n] A(z)n(1−z)8n=∑k=06n[zk]A(z)n(8n−1+6n−k6n−k),\mathrm{coef}_n=[z^{6n}]\,\frac{A(z)^n}{(1-z)^{8n}}=\sum_{k=0}^{6n}[z^k]A(z)^n\binom{8n-1+6n-k}{6n-k},coefn=[z6n](1−z)8nA(z)n=k=0∑6n[zk]A(z)n(6n−k8n−1+6n−k),

a positive integer. It is the coefficient of z6nz^{6n}z6n in S(z)nS(z)^nS(z)n, where S(z)=A(z)/(1−z)8S(z)=A(z)/(1-z)^8S(z)=A(z)/(1−z)8.

Bai's set of deleted primes PnP_nPn consists of the primes ppp with max⁡(5,8n)<p≤8n\max(5,\sqrt{8n})<p\le 8nmax(5,8n)<p≤8n and

{2np+12}+2{4np}<{6np},\left\{\frac{2n}{p}+\frac12\right\}+2\left\{\frac{4n}{p}\right\}<\left\{\frac{6n}{p}\right\},{p2n+21}+2{p4n}<{p6n},

where {x}=x−⌊x⌋\{x\}=x-\lfloor x\rfloor{x}=x−⌊x⌋. Put Φn=∏p∈Pnp\Phi_n=\prod_{p\in P_n}pΦn=∏p∈Pnp and define the normalising multiplier

Mn=24lcm⁡(1,2,…,8n)25n Φn.M_n=\frac{2^{4}\operatorname{lcm}(1,2,\dots,8n)}{2^{5n}\,\Phi_n}.Mn=25nΦn24lcm(1,2,…,8n).

With these objects, MnJnM_nJ_nMnJn is an integer linear form in 111 and π\piπ whose π\piπ-coefficient is −Mn16ncoefn/4-M_n16^n\mathrm{coef}_n/4−Mn16ncoefn/4. The decay of JnJ_nJn and the growth of coefn\mathrm{coef}_ncoefn, lcm⁡(1,…,8n)\operatorname{lcm}(1,\dots,8n)lcm(1,…,8n) and Φn\Phi_nΦn then give upper bounds for the irrationality measure of π\piπ.

Formalization Note. J n is written along the parametrisation t=−1+ist=-1+ist=−1+is. The condition 8n<p\sqrt{8n}<p8n<p is encoded as 8n<p28n<p^28n<p2, and fractional parts are taken in Q\mathbb{Q}Q. Nat.lcmUpto m is Mathlib's lcm⁡(1,…,m)\operatorname{lcm}(1,\dots,m)lcm(1,…,m).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
