erdos_szekeres_conjecture

Disproved

The Erdős–Szekeres conjecture (1935): ES(k) = 2^{k−2} + 1, i.e., any set of 2^{k-2}+1 points in general position in ℝ² contains k points in convex position, and this is tight. Proved for k ≤ 6 (the k=4 case is the 'happy ending'); the exact value 2^{k-2}+1 for k ≥ 7 is open.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
