Let U:CC→⨁α<NCdrα⊗Cdr‾αU:\mathbb C^{C}\to\bigoplus_{\alpha<N}\mathbb C^{d_{r_\alpha}}\otimes\mathbb C^{d_{\overline r_\alpha}}U:CC→⨁α<NCdrα⊗Cdrα be unitary. Then

{U†(⨁αxα⊗Ir‾α)U} ∩ {U†(⨁αIrα⊗yα)U}={U†(⨁αλαIrαr‾α)U : λα∈C},\Big\{U^\dagger\Big(\bigoplus_\alpha x_\alpha\otimes I_{\overline r_\alpha}\Big)U\Big\}\ \cap\ \Big\{U^\dagger\Big(\bigoplus_\alpha I_{r_\alpha}\otimes y_\alpha\Big)U\Big\}=\Big\{U^\dagger\Big(\bigoplus_\alpha \lambda_\alpha I_{r_\alpha\overline r_\alpha}\Big)U\ :\ \lambda_\alpha\in\mathbb C\Big\},{U†(α⨁xα⊗Irα)U} ∩ {U†(α⨁Irα⊗yα)U}={U†(α⨁λαIrαrα)U : λα∈C},

where xαx_\alphaxα, yαy_\alphayα range over all complex matrices of sizes drαd_{r_\alpha}drα and dr‾αd_{\overline r_\alpha}drα. In other words, an operator of the form x⊗Ix\otimes Ix⊗I that is also of the form I⊗yI\otimes yI⊗y is a multiple of the identity in each block. Together with the commutant computation this gives the center ZM=⨁αλαIrαr‾αZ_M=\bigoplus_\alpha\lambda_\alpha I_{r_\alpha\overline r_\alpha}ZM=⨁αλαIrαrα in (5.13).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
