Identify the Euclidean plane with C\mathbb CC and use the complex coordinates X=zX=zX=z, Y=zˉY=\bar zY=zˉ. Let m≥1m\ge 1m≥1 be an integer and let α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C be arbitrary. Let Pα(X,Y)=Xm(α+XY)+Ym(αˉ+XY)P_\alpha(X,Y)=X^m(\alpha+XY)+Y^m(\bar\alpha+XY)Pα(X,Y)=Xm(α+XY)+Ym(αˉ+XY) be the polynomial of equation (6) and Cm,α={z∈C:Pα(z,zˉ)=0}C_{m,\alpha}=\{z\in\mathbb C: P_\alpha(z,\bar z)=0\}Cm,α={z∈C:Pα(z,zˉ)=0} its real locus, the set where Re⁡(zm(∣z∣2+α))=0\operatorname{Re}\bigl(z^m(|z|^2+\alpha)\bigr)=0Re(zm(∣z∣2+α))=0. Let ζ∈C\zeta\in\mathbb Cζ∈C with ζ2m=1\zeta^{2m}=1ζ2m=1. Then the rotation z↦ζzz\mapsto\zeta zz↦ζz is an orientation-preserving Euclidean symmetry of Cm,αC_{m,\alpha}Cm,α:

∣ζ∣=1and(ζz∈Cm,α  ⟺  z∈Cm,α) for all z∈C.|\zeta|=1\qquad\text{and}\qquad \bigl(\zeta z\in C_{m,\alpha}\iff z\in C_{m,\alpha}\bigr) \text{ for all } z\in\mathbb C.∣ζ∣=1and(ζz∈Cm,α⟺z∈Cm,α) for all z∈C.

These are the 2m2m2m rotations z↦czz\mapsto czz↦cz, c2m=1c^{2m}=1c2m=1, of the group (3) in Theorem 2. They give the lower bound in the count of the orientation-preserving symmetries of Cm,αC_{m,\alpha}Cm,α, through which the rotation bound of Theorem 1 is attained.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
