Let a finite family (gi)(g_i)(gi) in a commutative group GGG generate a subgroup of finite index. For every positive integer nnn, the powers (gin)(g_i^n)(gin) also generate a finite-index subgroup. Indeed, the first subgroup is finitely generated, and multiplication by nnn has finite-index image in every finitely generated abelian group. This lemma preserves the finite-index condition of a Minkowski unit when it is raised to a power to enter a small ppp-adic logarithm ball.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
