Closed ball of indices in an indexed planar configuration

discrete-geometrygeometry

For an indexed configuration p=(p1,…,pn)p=(p_1,\dots,p_n)p=(p1,…,pn) of points in the plane, an index iii and a real number ttt, ConfigClosedBall p i t is the set of indices

Bp(i,t)={ j: ∣pi−pj∣≤t }.B_p(i,t)=\{\,j:\ |p_i-p_j|\le t\,\}.Bp(i,t)={j: ∣pi−pj∣≤t}.

It contains iii when t≥0t\ge 0t≥0 and is empty when t<0t<0t<0. When ppp is injective, its size is the number of configuration points in the closed disk of radius ttt about pip_ipi. Lower bounds for these sizes express that a configuration has heavy small balls.

Formalization Note Indices are elements of Fin n, and the set is a Finset (Fin n).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
