This is the finite-range reduction statement from the proof of Proposition 12 of Cordero–Erausquin–Klartag, Moment measures (arXiv:1304.0630v1), although no paper item directly cites this declaration.

Let EEE be finite-dimensional with an additive Haar measure dxdxdx, and let μ\muμ be a probability measure. Assume:

  1. Every linear subspace with full μ\muμ-measure equals EEE.
  2. The identity map is μ\muμ-integrable.
  3. ∫x dμ(x)=0\int x\,d\mu(x)=0∫xdμ(x)=0.

Then there exists U∈RU\in\mathbb RU∈R such that every f:E→R‾f:E\to\overline{\mathbb R}f:E→R with PotentialIntegrable f μ satisfies

variationalFunctional⁡(dx,μ,f)≤(U:R‾).\operatorname{variationalFunctional}(dx,\mu,f)\le(U:\overline{\mathbb R}).variationalFunctional(dx,μ,f)≤(U:R).

No convexity, nonnegativity, normalization, or finiteness of the conjugate mass is required of the competitor beyond PotentialIntegrable.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
