Assume hhh is C2C^2C2 with bounded Hessian, PPP is proper and lower semicontinuous, ϕ\phiϕ is C2C^2C2 and convex, and β>0\beta > 0β>0. Let (xt,yt,zt)(x^t, y^t, z^t)(xt,yt,zt) be generated by the proximal ADMM, and let (xti,yti,zti)→(x∗,y∗,z∗)(x^{t_i}, y^{t_i}, z^{t_i}) \to (x^*, y^*, z^*)(xti, yti, zti)→(x∗,y∗,z∗) along a strictly increasing sequence tit_iti. Suppose

lim⁡t→∞∥yt+1−yt∥2+∥xt+1−xt∥2+∥zt+1−zt∥2=0(9)\lim_{t\to\infty} \|y^{t+1} - y^t\|^2 + \|x^{t+1} - x^t\|^2 + \|z^{t+1} - z^t\|^2 = 0 \qquad (9)t→∞lim∥yt+1−yt∥2+∥xt+1−xt∥2+∥zt+1−zt∥2=0(9)

and lim⁡i→∞P(yti+1)=P(y∗)\lim_{i\to\infty} P(y^{t_i+1}) = P(y^*)limi→∞P(yti+1)=P(y∗) with P(y∗)P(y^*)P(y∗) finite (10). Then

∇h(x∗)=M∗z∗,−z∗∈∂P(y∗),y∗=Mx∗,(12)\nabla h(x^*) = \mathcal M^* z^*, \qquad -z^* \in \partial P(y^*), \qquad y^* = \mathcal M x^*, \qquad (12)∇h(x∗)=M∗z∗,−z∗∈∂P(y∗),y∗=Mx∗,(12)

and x∗x^*x∗ is a stationary point of min⁡xh(x)+P(Mx)\min_x h(x) + P(\mathcal M x)minxh(x)+P(Mx).

Assumption 1 is not needed for this step; it is used to establish (9) and (10).

Formalization Note The paper writes (10) as a limit of the real numbers P(yti+1)P(y^{t_i+1})P(yti+1) equal to P(y∗)P(y^*)P(y∗); the finiteness P(y∗)<∞P(y^*) < \inftyP(y∗)<∞ is stated explicitly, because a limit +∞+\infty+∞ in EReal would not place y∗y^*y∗ in the domain of PPP, where the limiting subdifferential is defined.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
