A tree witness is a function θ(k,r)∈{0,1}\theta(k,r)\in\{0,1\}θ(k,r)∈{0,1} on the nodes of the binary residue tree. A finite word QQQ is θ\thetaθ-safe if the sequence "the letters of QQQ in order, then all remaining integers in ≺θ\prec_\theta≺θ-order" contains no monotone 444-term arithmetic progression. An in-order pair (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) of QQQ is open if 2b−a∉Q2b-a\notin Q2b−a∈/Q and 3b−2a∉Q3b-2a\notin Q3b−2a∈/Q. The word QQQ is a true root release if every open pair with b−ab-ab−a odd has bbb even. There is no finite list RRR of even integers such that

Q=(0,−2)⋅R⋅(1)Q=(0,-2)\cdot R\cdot(1)Q=(0,−2)⋅R⋅(1)

is θ\thetaθ-safe for some tree witness and a true root release. Release forces the even support to be invariant under x↦2−xx\mapsto 2-xx↦2−x, and the extremes of the even support then give a node conflict at (1,0)(1,0)(1,0). So in the tree-witness approach to Erdős Problem 195, the two-entry word (0,−2)(0,-2)(0,−2), which is itself safe and released, cannot absorb the target 111 by reflection-only preparation. This is the minimal starting word for such an obstruction.

Formalization note: tree-witness safety uses treeLt θ from Definitions.Def_Erdos195_tree and Safe from Definitions.Def_Erdos195_defs. Positions are List.idxOf. The release property is stated as: every open in-order pair (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) with (b−a) mod 2=1(b-a)\bmod 2=1(b−a)mod2=1 has b mod 2=0b\bmod 2=0bmod2=0.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
