Let A,A′A,A'A,A′ be real square matrices with both I−AI-AI−A and I−A′I-A'I−A′ invertible. For every integer K≥0K\ge0K≥0, the inverse of I−A′I-A'I−A′ is the sum of the first K+1K+1K+1 terms of its resolvent expansion around AAA, plus an exact remainder:

(I−A′)−1=(I−A)−1∑k=0K[(A′−A)(I−A)−1]k+(I−A′)−1[(A′−A)(I−A)−1]K+1.(I-A')^{-1}=(I-A)^{-1}\sum_{k=0}^{K}[(A'-A)(I-A)^{-1}]^k+(I-A')^{-1}[(A'-A)(I-A)^{-1}]^{K+1}.(I−A′)−1=(I−A)−1k=0∑K[(A′−A)(I−A)−1]k+(I−A′)−1[(A′−A)(I−A)−1]K+1.

The identity supplies the finite-order expansion used in the paper's value-functional theorem.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
