This identifies the ambient covariance bilinear form with the intrinsic covariance bilinear form on the affine-support direction space.

Let EEE be a complete, finite-dimensional, second-countable real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure. Let μ\muμ be a probability measure on EEE satisfying

id⁡∈L2(μ).\operatorname{id}\in L^2(\mu).id∈L2(μ).

Let VVV be the direction of the affine support of μ\muμ, and let v,w∈Vv,w\in Vv,w∈V. Then

Cov⁡(intrinsicMeasure⁡(μ))(v,w)=Cov⁡(μ)(v,w),\operatorname{Cov}(\operatorname{intrinsicMeasure}(\mu))(v,w) = \operatorname{Cov}(\mu)(v,w),Cov(intrinsicMeasure(μ))(v,w)=Cov(μ)(v,w),

where the right-hand side views v,wv,wv,w as vectors in EEE.

This is the basic covariance identity for intrinsic coordinates and is reusable in comparisons between ambient and affine-support formulations.

Formalization Note The intrinsic law is intrinsicMeasure μ, and the second-moment assumption is the explicit MemLp id 2 hypothesis.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
