Suppose f,gf,gf,g are proper closed convex functions, with nonnegative strong-convexity and gradient-regularity parameters μf,βf,μg,βg\mu_f,\beta_f,\mu_g,\beta_gμf,βf,μg,βg. Let zkz^kzk follow relaxed PRS with γ>0\gamma>0γ>0 and 0<λk≤10<\lambda_k\le10<λk≤1, and let z∗z^*z∗ be a fixed point of TPRST_{\rm PRS}TPRS. Set x∗=Pgz∗x^*=P_gz^*x∗=Pgz∗ and let Sfk,SgkS_f^k,S_g^kSfk,Sgk be the terms of (1.14) at the auxiliary proximal points and their selected proximal subgradients, relative to x∗x^*x∗ and the subgradients at z∗z^*z∗. For every k≥0k\ge0k≥0,

8γλk(Sfk+Sgk)≤∥zk−z∗∥2−∥zk+1−z∗∥2+(1−1λk)∥zk+1−zk∥2.8\gamma\lambda_k(S_f^k+S_g^k)\le\|z^k-z^*\|^2-\|z^{k+1}-z^*\|^2+\left(1-\frac1{\lambda_k}\right)\|z^{k+1}-z^k\|^2.8γλk(Sfk+Sgk)≤∥zk−z∗∥2−∥zk+1−z∗∥2+(1−λk1)∥zk+1−zk∥2.

This is the one-step decrease inequality used by each regularity case in the paper's rate analysis.

Formalization Note When a parameter β\betaβ is positive, its function is assumed real valued with a (1/β)(1/\beta)(1/β)-Lipschitz gradient; when β=0\beta=0β=0, no differentiability is imposed.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
