Let m≥1m\ge 1m≥1 be an integer, let α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb{C}α∈C be nonreal, α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ (no condition on ∣α∣|\alpha|∣α∣), and let Cm,α={z∈C:Re⁡(zm(∣z∣2+α))=0}C_{m,\alpha}=\{z\in\mathbb{C} : \operatorname{Re}\bigl(z^m(|z|^2+\alpha)\bigr)=0\}Cm,α={z∈C:Re(zm(∣z∣2+α))=0}. Let r>0r>0r>0 be a real number.

Then the circle of radius rrr centered at the origin meets Cm,αC_{m,\alpha}Cm,α in a finite set of exactly 2m2m2m points:

#(Cm,α∩{z∈C:∣z∣=r})=2m.\#\bigl(C_{m,\alpha}\cap\{z\in\mathbb{C} : |z|=r\}\bigr)=2m.#(Cm,α∩{z∈C:∣z∣=r})=2m.

In the proof of Lemma 4 of the note, this count is what shows that Cm,αC_{m,\alpha}Cm,α is infinite.

Formalization Note: The circle is the metric sphere of radius rrr about 000 in C\mathbb{C}C, and the count is Nat.card of the intersection, so finiteness is part of the statement.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
