Let h∈C[t]h\in\mathbb C[t]h∈C[t] be any polynomial, let Rh=C[t][W]/(W2−h(t))R_h=\mathbb C[t][W]/(W^2-h(t))Rh=C[t][W]/(W2−h(t)), and for c,d∈Cc,d\in\mathbb Cc,d∈C with d2=h(c)d^2=h(c)d2=h(c) let ev⁡c,d ⁣:Rh→C\operatorname{ev}_{c,d}\colon R_h\to\mathbb Cevc,d:Rh→C be the evaluation p(t)+q(t) W↦p(c)+q(c) dp(t)+q(t)\,W\mapsto p(c)+q(c)\,dp(t)+q(t)W↦p(c)+q(c)d. Let c,d,c′,d′∈Cc,d,c',d'\in\mathbb Cc,d,c′,d′∈C satisfy d2=h(c)d^2=h(c)d2=h(c) and d′2=h(c′)d'^2=h(c')d′2=h(c′). Then

ker⁡ev⁡c,d=ker⁡ev⁡c′,d′ ⟹ c=c′ and d=d′.\ker\operatorname{ev}_{c,d}=\ker\operatorname{ev}_{c',d'}\ \Longrightarrow\ c=c'\ \text{and}\ d=d'.kerevc,d=kerevc′,d′ ⟹ c=c′ and d=d′.

Together with the description of the maximal ideals of RhR_hRh as evaluation kernels, this gives a bijection between the points of w2=h(t)w^2=h(t)w2=h(t) and the maximal ideals of RhR_hRh. It is used to show that distinct points give distinct places of the function field of the double cover (7), for Lemma 4 and Remark 5.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
