Let d≥1d\ge1d≥1, 0≤d′≤d0\le d'\le d0≤d′≤d, and let rrr be even with r≥64d2 (256d2)!r\ge 64d^2\,(256d^2)!r≥64d2(256d2)!. Put η=1/(4d)\eta=1/(4d)η=1/(4d) and ti=r/2t_i=r/2ti=r/2 for i<d′i<d'i<d′, ti=rt_i=rti=r for d′≤i<dd'\le i<dd′≤i<d. Then there are odd, pairwise coprime natural numbers s0,…,sd−1s_0,\dots,s_{d-1}s0,…,sd−1 with

(1−2η) ti<si≤(1−η) tifor all i.(1-2\eta)\,t_i<s_i\le(1-\eta)\,t_i\qquad\text{for all }i .(1−2η)ti<si≤(1−η)tifor all i.

This is exactly what Harvey–van der Hoeven need from the primes of Lemma 5.1 in §5.1 (condition (5.11)). Oddness gives gcd⁡(si,ti)=1\gcd(s_i,t_i)=1gcd(si,ti)=1 for powers of two tit_iti, and pairwise coprimality is what the Agarwal–Cooley step needs. The proof uses no prime number theory: the sis_isi have the form 1+Qm1+Qm1+Qm with (256d2)!∣Q(256d^2)!\mid Q(256d2)!∣Q and all m≤256d2m\le 256d^2m≤256d2. In the paper's setting r≥2d10r\ge2^{d^{10}}r≥2d10, which is far larger than the hypothesis needs.

Formalization note. The interval conditions are stated in integers: (4d−2)ti<4d si≤(4d−1)ti(4d-2)t_i<4d\,s_i\le(4d-1)t_i(4d−2)ti<4dsi≤(4d−1)ti.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
