Correctness and running time of the main loop aeLoop of the all-edges host of Theorem 17.

Let a program P0+ ⁣ ⁣+RP_0\mathbin{+\!\!+}RP0++R contain a solver of Lop-AE-SparseTri (procedure pSp_SpS of P0P_0P0 solves the detection task within TnT_nTn steps under the need ν\nuν) and the procedures writeX, writeY, scanPairsAE and scan at their numbers. Let XXX be the data of a run of the host (sizes nnn, DDD, prime ppp, piece size, number mmm of instances, the hashed weights, the pieces and the query pairs of every instance) and AAA the addresses of its arrays, and assume that the data are consistent with the bound UUU, the memory μ\muμ holds the arrays of XXX at AAA, the arrays are laid out without overlap, the limits allow all calls (including the need of the solver at every instance), the n2n^2n2 cells from flf_lfl that receive the marks lie apart from everything else, and they hold 000 initially.

Then the body of aeLoop, run at depth ddd on its arguments, ends within

tAELoop(Tn,X)=∑t<m(twrites(n,D,ℓt)+Tn[n,D,wt]+tscanPairs(wt,ℓt,st))+14t_{\mathrm{AELoop}}(T_n,X)=\sum_{t<m}\Big(t_{\mathrm{writes}}(n,D,\ell_t)+T_n[n,D,w_t]+t_{\mathrm{scanPairs}}(w_t,\ell_t,s_t)\Big)+14tAELoop(Tn,X)=t<m∑(twrites(n,D,ℓt)+Tn[n,D,wt]+tscanPairs(wt,ℓt,st))+14

steps (with ℓt\ell_tℓt the piece size, wtw_twt the number of query pairs and sts_tst the number of scans of instance ttt), and the final memory agrees, below the address A.xA.xA.x, with μ\muμ in which the n2n^2n2 cells from flf_lfl hold the marks after all mmm instances.

Setting. The all-edges host solves All-Edges Exact Triangle: given n×nn\times nn×n integer weight matrices wAB,wBC,wACw_{AB},w_{BC},w_{AC}wAB,wBC,wAC with entries of absolute value at most UUU, it writes for every pair (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) a flag that is 111 exactly if some ccc has wAB(a,b)+wBC(b,c)+wAC(a,c)=0w_{AB}(a,b)+w_{BC}(b,c)+w_{AC}(a,c)=0wAB(a,b)+wBC(b,c)+wAC(a,c)=0. As in the proof of Theorem 17 it chooses a prime p≤Dp\le\sqrt Dp≤D, hashes the weights, splits the third part into about 4ng4ng4ng pieces of at most ⌈s/g⌉\lceil s/g\rceil⌈s/g⌉ vertices (s=⌊D⌋s=\lfloor\sqrt D\rfloors=⌊D⌋), builds one Lop-AE-SparseTri instance per piece and residue class with at most ⌊n2/D⌋\lfloor n^2/\sqrt D\rfloor⌊n2/D⌋ query pairs, calls a detection solver on each, and scans the candidate pairs it reports, skipping pairs that are already marked. The marks are the n2n^2n2 flags; after the last instance they are the answer.

The number of scans of an instance counts only pairs that are not yet marked, so over the whole loop the scans are at most the false positives plus n2n^2n2; this is what makes the all-edges variant cost no more than the decision version.

Formalization Note The statement is Ends lim (P₀ ++ R) d (aeLoopBody pS pWriteX pWriteY pScanPairs) ⟨frame (aeLoopArgs X A fl), μ⟩ (tAELoop Tn X) (fun σ' => Kept (aeBase X fl μ X.m) σ'.mem A.x), under the hypotheses AEHostCtx, HostOk X U, HostMem X A μ, HostLay X A, HostLim lim d X U A need, AEMarksLay X A fl and the zero marks; the sum in the time is exactly tAELoop.

Developed for the prove2.me APSP exponent campaign (https://prove2.me/campaigns/apsp-exponent) on top of the Lean formalization anthropics/formal-math, folder 3sum-apsp, commit e1a4e65 (https://github.com/anthropics/formal-math/tree/e1a4e6508154ea59f030480661590a9fe3018011/3sum-apsp; Lean v4.33.1, Mathlib v4.33.1). The statement comes from the file 3sum-apsp/ThreeSumApsp/AllEdges/Loop.lean of the campaign's modified copy of that library, which is not published; the new and modified definitions it uses are in the platform definition bundles APSP299791_Defs1 to APSP299791_Defs5. It builds on J. Alman and V. Vassilevska Williams, "Truly Subquadratic 3SUM and Truly Subcubic APSP via Triangles in Sparse Lopsided Graphs", arXiv:2610.06783v1 (https://arxiv.org/abs/2610.06783v1), Theorem 17 (p. 33) and its proof. This result belongs to an improvement of the paper's bounds developed for this campaign and is not stated in the paper.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
