Let HHH be a real Hilbert space. Let A:H⇉HA:H\rightrightarrows HA:H⇉H be maximally monotone, with resolvents JγA=(I+γA)−1J_{\gamma A}=(I+\gamma A)^{-1}JγA=(I+γA)−1; let B:H→HB:H\to HB:H→H be monotone and L1L_1L1-Lipschitz (L1≥0L_1\ge0L1≥0); and let C:H→HC:H\to HC:H→H be 1L2\tfrac1{L_2}L21-cocoercive (L2>0L_2>0L2>0). Suppose that (A+B+C)−1(0)≠∅(A+B+C)^{-1}(0)\neq\varnothing(A+B+C)−1(0)=∅ and

0<λ<24L1+L2.0<\lambda<\frac{2}{4L_1+L_2}.0<λ<4L1+L22.

Given x0,x−1∈Hx_0,x_{-1}\in Hx0,x−1∈H, define the sequence (xk)(x_k)(xk) by

xk+1=JλA(xk−2λB(xk)+λB(xk−1)−λC(xk))∀k∈N.x_{k+1}=J_{\lambda A}\big(x_k-2\lambda B(x_k)+\lambda B(x_{k-1})-\lambda C(x_k)\big)\qquad\forall k\in\mathbb N.xk+1=JλA(xk−2λB(xk)+λB(xk−1)−λC(xk))∀k∈N.

Then (xk)(x_k)(xk) converges weakly to a point of (A+B+C)−1(0)(A+B+C)^{-1}(0)(A+B+C)−1(0).

The scheme uses one resolvent of AAA, one new evaluation of BBB and one evaluation of CCC per iteration. Treating B+CB+CB+C as a single (L1+L2)(L_1+L_2)(L1+L2)-Lipschitz operator in the two-operator forward-reflected-backward method would require λ<1/(2L1+2L2)\lambda<1/(2L_1+2L_2)λ<1/(2L1+2L2); exploiting the cocoercivity of CCC enlarges the admissible range to λ<1/(2L1+12L2)\lambda<1/(2L_1+\tfrac12L_2)λ<1/(2L1+21L2).

Formalization Note. The resolvent is a hypothesis: a family J : ℝ → H → H with IsResolventFamily A J; for a maximally monotone AAA such a family exists (Minty's theorem) and is unique on γ>0\gamma>0γ>0. "1L2\tfrac1{L_2}L21-cocoercive" is IsCocoercive L₂⁻¹ C with L2>0L_2>0L2>0, and the Lipschitz constant carries its sign L1≥0L_1\ge0L1≥0 (L1=0L_1=0L1=0 allowed). The zero set is {x:−(B+C)(x)∈A(x)}\{x : -(B+C)(x)\in A(x)\}{x:−(B+C)(x)∈A(x)}. Indices are shifted by one: Lean's x j is xj−1x_{j-1}xj−1, and the initial points x 0, x 1 are arbitrary. Weak convergence is stated through inner products: ⟨xk,v⟩→⟨xˉ,v⟩\langle x_k,v\rangle\to\langle\bar x,v\rangle⟨xk,v⟩→⟨xˉ,v⟩ for all v∈Hv\in Hv∈H.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
