Let R:Rk×Rm→RmR:\mathbb R^k\times\mathbb R^m\to\mathbb R^mR:Rk×Rm→Rm be any RNN update map, h0∈Rmh_0\in\mathbb R^mh0∈Rm its seed, and zˉ\bar zzˉ an input sequence padded on the left by ddd zero vectors. If 0≤s≤d0\le s\le d0≤s≤d and R(0,h0)=h0R(0,h_0)=h_0R(0,h0)=h0, then the RNN run on the sequence shifted left by sss steps is the correspondingly shifted original run:

hzˉ(⋅+s)(t)=hzˉ(t+s)for every t≥0.h_{\bar z(\cdot+s)}(t)=h_{\bar z}(t+s)\qquad\text{for every }t\ge0.hzˉ(⋅+s)(t)=hzˉ(t+s)for every t≥0.

This extends the one-step statement to all shifts that fit inside the zero padding.

Formalization Note Time is indexed by natural numbers, and the original input begins at time 111; its value at time 000 is unused.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
