Let KKK be a CM number field whose maximal totally real subfield K+K^+K+ is a biquadratic extension of Q\mathbb QQ: it is Galois of degree four and every automorphism has order at most two. Then Leopoldt’s conjecture holds for KKK at every prime ppp, including 222. This applies to certain non-Galois CM fields of degree eight, as well as abelian examples. The conjecture for a CM field is equivalent to that for its maximal real subfield, where the proved biquadratic case applies.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
