This composite interface isolates the numerical consequence used in the planar unit-distance upper bound. For every finite point set PPP in the Euclidean plane, there is a natural number eee such that

unitDist⁡(P)−∣P∣≤e,\operatorname{unitDist}(P)-|P|\le e,unitDist(P)−∣P∣≤e,

and, whenever 4∣P∣≤e4|P|\le e4∣P∣≤e,

e3100∣P∣2≤2∣P∣2.\frac{e^3}{100|P|^2}\le 2|P|^2.100∣P∣2e3≤2∣P∣2.

Here unitDist⁡(P)\operatorname{unitDist}(P)unitDist(P) is the unit-distance count and ∣P∣|P|∣P∣ is the cardinality of PPP. The number eee is the edge-count quantity supplied by the unit-distance crossing construction. This theorem is the reusable bridge consumed by the headline numerical argument: it packages the geometric graph and crossing estimates while exposing exactly the arithmetic interface needed downstream.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
