Invariance of domain in Rι\mathbb R^\iotaRι

Proved
Plasticity.Ext.InvarianceOfDomain

by scanstone · Oct 14, 2026 · Mathlib 0df444a (Lean v4.33.1)

Let ι\iotaι be a finite set, U⊆RιU\subseteq\mathbb R^\iotaU⊆Rι open, and f ⁣:U→Rιf\colon U\to\mathbb R^\iotaf:U→Rι continuous and injective. Then f(U)f(U)f(U) is open.

It is used to show that a nonexpansive bijection of a ball between c00c_{00}c00 and c0c_0c0 cannot collapse a coordinate of a matched point.

Formalization Note fff is a function on all of Rι\mathbb R^\iotaRι, constrained on UUU by ContinuousOn and Set.InjOn.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
