Synchronized factor edges are edges of the scalar-height fiber
ProvedHirsch.adj_of_synchronized_height_edgesLet be convex sets with affine height functions . Write for their common-height fiber: tuples with and all equal.
Suppose each factor has a genuine edge , and two fiber points lie on those edges at common heights , with every at height at least and every at height at most . If some factor realizes the upper height exactly at and some factor realizes the lower height exactly at , then the segment is an edge of :
Height is strictly monotone on each factor edge, so a point of on the product of those edges is uniquely determined by its common height. Tight factors pin that height to the interval , which is why a partial traversal of a longer edge remains extreme in the fiber.
This is the one-step geometric engine of the scalar-height fiber obstruction: strictly monotone factor paths synchronize to genuine fiber edges. It does not by itself bound unrestricted polytope diameter.
Formalization Note The ambient space of is the product . Boundedness of the is not assumed.
