algebraic-topologyhomology

Let XXX be a topological space, GGG an abelian group and qqq a nonnegative integer. If GGG admits an injective additive homomorphism into Hq(X;Z)H_q(X;\mathbb Z)Hq(X;Z), then it admits one into the total integral homology

H∗(X;Z)=⨁n≥0Hn(X;Z).H_*(X;\mathbb Z)=\bigoplus_{n\ge0}H_n(X;\mathbb Z).H∗(X;Z)=n≥0⨁Hn(X;Z).

The inclusion of the degree-qqq summand into the direct sum is injective, and composing with it transports any embedding into a single homology group to an embedding into the total homology. This is the bridge between degree-specific computations and statements phrased in terms of total homology.

Formalization Note Homology is integral singular homology and total homology is the direct sum over all nonnegative degrees, as in the ambient definition file; "subgroup" means an explicit injective additive homomorphism.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
