Gaussian log-Sobolev inequality for functions bounded away from with bounded derivative
ProvedGaussianMatrix.gaussian_logsobolev_bounded_belowbakry-emeryentropygaussianlog-sobolevornstein-uhlenbeck
Let be the standard Gaussian measure on . Let and , and let be continuously differentiable with and for all . Then
This is the entropy form of Gross's inequality; substituting gives the usual form. It is proved with the Bakry–Émery argument along the Ornstein–Uhlenbeck semigroup . The entropy decreases with rate equal to the Fisher information (ou_entropy_hasDerivAt). By commutation and Cauchy–Schwarz, the Fisher information of is at most , and invariance of handles the integral. Hence is nondecreasing on ; it equals the difference of the two sides at and tends to as .
Formalization Note. The hypotheses force . All integrands are bounded and measurable, so every Bochner integral is a true integral.
