Let u∈C∖Q‾u \in \mathbb{C} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u∈C∖Q with ρ=uuˉ\rho = u\bar uρ=uuˉ algebraic, let a1≠a2a_1 \neq a_2a1=a2 be non-zero algebraic numbers, zi=u/(u2−ai)z_i = u/(u^2 - a_i)zi=u/(u2−ai), H0=Q‾+Q‾u+Q‾uˉH_0 = \overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar uH0=Q+Qu+Quˉ and W=H0+Q‾z1+Q‾z2W = H_0 + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}z_1 + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}z_2W=H0+Qz1+Qz2. Then WWW contains neither u2u^2u2 nor uˉ2\bar u^2uˉ2, nor 1/(u−b)1/(u - b)1/(u−b) for any non-zero b∈Q‾b \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}b∈Q.

These are the elements www for which, by Theorem B (DiazModulus.circle_point_extension_two_by_three_configuration_iff), a four-dimensional space H0+Q‾wH_0 + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}wH0+Qw carries a configuration.

Proof. Both ziz_izi satisfy zi(u2−ai)=uz_i(u^2 - a_i) = uzi(u2−ai)=u. Clearing denominators (with uˉ=ρ/u\bar u = \rho/uuˉ=ρ/u) turns a membership w∈Ww \in Ww∈W into A(u2)+uB(u2)=0A(u^2) + uB(u^2) = 0A(u2)+uB(u2)=0 with A,B∈Q‾[X]A, B \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}[X]A,B∈Q[X]; the same identity at −u-u−u gives A=B=0A = B = 0A=B=0, as u2u^2u2 is transcendental. For u2u^2u2 the odd part B=(X−c1)(X−a1)(X−a2)B = (X - c_1)(X - a_1)(X - a_2)B=(X−c1)(X−a1)(X−a2) is non-zero (c1c_1c1 the coordinate on uuu); for uˉ2=ρ2/u2\bar u^2 = \rho^2/u^2uˉ2=ρ2/u2 the even part has A(0)=ρ2a1a2≠0A(0) = \rho^2a_1a_2 \neq 0A(0)=ρ2a1a2=0; for 1/(u−b)=(u+b)/(u2−b2)1/(u - b) = (u + b)/(u^2 - b^2)1/(u−b)=(u+b)/(u2−b2) the odd part is (X−a1)(X−a2)(b−c1(X−b2))(X - a_1)(X - a_2)(b - c_1(X - b^2))(X−a1)(X−a2)(b−c1(X−b2)), non-zero because its last factor takes the value b≠0b \neq 0b=0 at X=b2X = b^2X=b2. Here c1c_1c1 is the constant coordinate of the element of WWW.

Novelty. Not asserted separately; elementary (parity in uuu).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
