The partner of the smallest open instance, under the weakest hypothesis.

Suppose that log⁡2\log 2log2 is algebraic over Q[iπ]\mathbb{Q}[i\pi]Q[iπ]; equivalently, log⁡2\log 2log2 and π\piπ are algebraically dependent. Then

2 ilog⁡2/π=ei(log⁡2)2/πandeπ2/log⁡22^{\,i\log 2/\pi} = e^{i(\log 2)^{2}/\pi} \qquad\text{and}\qquad e^{\pi^{2}/\log 2}2ilog2/π=ei(log2)2/πandeπ2/log2

are both transcendental.

DiazModulus.log_two_diaz_or_transcendental reaches the first number under the stronger hypothesis that (log⁡2)2+π2\sqrt{(\log 2)^{2}+\pi^{2}}(log2)2+π2 is algebraic. That hypothesis is one particular algebraic dependence between log⁡2\log 2log2 and π\piπ; this node needs only the dependence.

Proof. The argument of DiazModulus.log_pair_square_ratio_transcendental, at ℓ1=log⁡2\ell_1 = \log 2ℓ1=log2 and ℓ2=iπ\ell_2 = i\piℓ2=iπ, gives the transcendence of e(log⁡2)2/(iπ)e^{(\log 2)^{2}/(i\pi)}e(log2)2/(iπ) and of e(iπ)2/log⁡2e^{(i\pi)^{2}/\log 2}e(iπ)2/log2. These are the inverses of the two numbers above.

Attribution. Known: the case ℓ1=log⁡2\ell_1 = \log 2ℓ1=log2, ℓ2=iπ\ell_2 = i\piℓ2=iπ of M. Waldschmidt, Nombres transcendants, Lecture Notes in Math. 402 (1974), p. 202. The contribution of this node is the formal proof.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
