This is a moment-to-cumulant estimate.

Let ν\nuν be a probability measure on a finite-dimensional real inner-product space EEE. Suppose r>0r>0r>0, er∥x∥e^{r\|x\|}er∥x∥ is integrable with respect to ν\nuν, and for some m∈Nm\in\mathbb Nm∈N and D∈RD\in\mathbb RD∈R,

∫∥x∥i dν(x)≤Di(1≤i≤m).\int\|x\|^i\,d\nu(x)\le D^i\qquad(1\le i\le m).∫∥x∥idν(x)≤Di(1≤i≤m).

Then the norm of the mmm-th cumulant tensor satisfies

∥κm(ν)∥≤(m!)2Dm.\|\kappa_m(\nu)\|\le (m!)^2D^m.∥κm(ν)∥≤(m!)2Dm.

This gives a general quantitative bound on cumulants in terms of moments and is independent of any log-concavity assumption.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
