Consider a single qubit with Hamiltonian 000 and one jump operator σ−=∣0⟩⟨1∣=(0100)\sigma_- = |0\rangle\langle 1| = \begin{pmatrix}0&1\\0&0\end{pmatrix}σ−=∣0⟩⟨1∣=(0010) with rate g>0g>0g>0, so that L(ρ)=g (2σ−ρσ−†−σ−†σ−ρ−ρσ−†σ−)\mathcal L(\rho) = g\,(2\sigma_-\rho\sigma_-^\dagger - \sigma_-^\dagger\sigma_-\rho - \rho\sigma_-^\dagger\sigma_-)L(ρ)=g(2σ−ρσ−†−σ−†σ−ρ−ρσ−†σ−). Then

L(∣0⟩⟨0∣)=0,L(σz)=−2g σz,L(σx)=−g σx,L(σy)=−g σy,\mathcal L(|0\rangle\langle0|) = 0,\qquad \mathcal L(\sigma_z) = -2g\,\sigma_z,\qquad \mathcal L(\sigma_x) = -g\,\sigma_x,\qquad \mathcal L(\sigma_y) = -g\,\sigma_y,L(∣0⟩⟨0∣)=0,L(σz)=−2gσz,L(σx)=−gσx,L(σy)=−gσy,

where σz=(100−1)\sigma_z = \begin{pmatrix}1&0\\0&-1\end{pmatrix}σz=(100−1), σx=(0110)\sigma_x = \begin{pmatrix}0&1\\1&0\end{pmatrix}σx=(0110), σy=(0−ii0)\sigma_y = \begin{pmatrix}0&-i\\i&0\end{pmatrix}σy=(0i−i0) (basis order ∣0⟩,∣1⟩|0\rangle,|1\rangle∣0⟩,∣1⟩).

These four eigenvectors form a basis of the 2×22\times22×2 matrices, so they give the full spectrum λ0=0\lambda_0 = 0λ0=0, λ3=−2g\lambda_3 = -2gλ3=−2g, λ1=λ2=−g\lambda_1 = \lambda_2 = -gλ1=λ2=−g of the single-qubit Liouvillian; the nnn-qubit spectrum is built from them.

Formalization Note The page says "L(σi)=λiσi\mathcal L(\sigma_i) = \lambda_i\sigma_iL(σi)=λiσi iff σi∈Σk\sigma_i\in\Sigma_kσi∈Σk"; read literally the "iff" is false (e.g. 2σz2\sigma_z2σz is an eigenvector outside Σk\Sigma_kΣk), so the four eigen-equations are stated.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
