Let f(z)=∑jPj(z) ewjzf(z) = \sum_{j} P_j(z)\,e^{w_j z}f(z)=∑jPj(z)ewjz, over a finite index set, with ∣wj∣≤W|w_j| \le W∣wj∣≤W and each PjP_jPj zero or of degree less than qjq_jqj. Put N=∑jqjN = \sum_j q_jN=∑jqj. If ∣f(s)(c)∣≤D|f^{(s)}(c)| \le D∣f(s)(c)∣≤D for every s<Ns < Ns<N at a point ccc, with D≥0D \ge 0D≥0, then for every nnn

∣f(n)(c)∣≤D (W+1)n+N.|f^{(n)}(c)| \le D\,(W+1)^{n+N}.∣f(n)(c)∣≤D(W+1)n+N.

The frequencies wjw_jwj need not be distinct.

Proof idea. Induction on NNN. If N=0N = 0N=0, every PjP_jPj is zero. Otherwise pick j0j_0j0 with qj0≥1q_{j_0} \ge 1qj0≥1 and peel that frequency: g=f′−wj0fg = f' - w_{j_0} fg=f′−wj0f has the same shape, with qj0q_{j_0}qj0 lowered by one. Its first N−1N - 1N−1 derivatives at ccc are at most D(W+1)D(W+1)D(W+1), so by induction ∣g(n)(c)∣≤D(W+1)n+N|g^{(n)}(c)| \le D(W+1)^{n+N}∣g(n)(c)∣≤D(W+1)n+N. Then f(n+1)(c)=g(n)(c)+wj0f(n)(c)f^{(n+1)}(c) = g^{(n)}(c) + w_{j_0} f^{(n)}(c)f(n+1)(c)=g(n)(c)+wj0f(n)(c) gives the bound for fff by induction on nnn, because D(W+1)n+N+W D(W+1)n+N=D(W+1)n+1+ND(W+1)^{n+N} + W\,D(W+1)^{n+N} = D(W+1)^{n+1+N}D(W+1)n+N+WD(W+1)n+N=D(W+1)n+1+N.

What it is for. With the Taylor series at ccc it gives FourExp.expPoly_value_le_derivs in a few lines, in place of the binomial bookkeeping of that node's first formal proof.

Novelty. None is claimed. The function fff satisfies the linear differential equation of order NNN whose characteristic polynomial is ∏j(X−wj)qj\prod_j (X - w_j)^{q_j}∏j(X−wj)qj, and the bound is the elementary induction along it.

Source
No source is claimed; an elementary induction. It is used in the second formal proof of FourExp.expPoly_value_le_derivs, whose estimate is M. About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
