Let m≥1m\ge1m≥1 be an integer and let α,β,c,k∈C\alpha,\beta,c,k\in\mathbb Cα,β,c,k∈C with ∣α∣=∣β∣=1|\alpha|=|\beta|=1∣α∣=∣β∣=1 and c≠0c\ne0c=0. For γ∈C\gamma\in\mathbb Cγ∈C let Pγ(X,Y)=Xm(γ+XY)+Ym(γˉ+XY)P_\gamma(X,Y)=X^m(\gamma+XY)+Y^m(\bar\gamma+XY)Pγ(X,Y)=Xm(γ+XY)+Ym(γˉ+XY) be the polynomial of equation (6). The map z↦c/zz\mapsto c/zz↦c/z acts on the complex coordinates X=zX=zX=z, Y=zˉY=\bar zY=zˉ by (X,Y)↦(c/X,cˉ/Y)(X,Y)\mapsto(c/X,\bar c/Y)(X,Y)↦(c/X,cˉ/Y); clearing the denominator (XY)m+1(XY)^{m+1}(XY)m+1 of the pulled-back equation gives the polynomial Iβ,c(X,Y)=(XY)m+1Pβ(c/X,cˉ/Y)=cˉm∣c∣2Xm+cm∣c∣2Ym+XY(cˉmβˉXm+cmβYm)I_{\beta,c}(X,Y)=(XY)^{m+1}P_\beta(c/X,\bar c/Y)=\bar c^{m}|c|^2X^m+c^m|c|^2Y^m+XY\bigl(\bar c^{m}\bar\beta X^m+c^m\beta Y^m\bigr)Iβ,c(X,Y)=(XY)m+1Pβ(c/X,cˉ/Y)=cˉm∣c∣2Xm+cm∣c∣2Ym+XY(cˉmβˉXm+cmβYm).

Suppose that this polynomial is a multiple of PαP_\alphaPα:

Iβ,c=k Pαin C[X,Y].I_{\beta,c}=k\,P_\alpha\qquad\text{in }\mathbb C[X,Y].Iβ,c=kPαin C[X,Y].

Then ∣c∣=1|c|=1∣c∣=1 and β=α\beta=\alphaβ=α.

This is the case z↦c/zz\mapsto c/zz↦c/z of the coefficient-ratio comparison (8) in the proof of Theorem 2, where the ratio is ∣c∣2/βˉ|c|^2/\bar\beta∣c∣2/βˉ: such a map must have ∣c∣=1|c|=1∣c∣=1 and cannot change a parameter of modulus one.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
