Let G\mathcal GG be a generator over a finite alphabet with controllable events Σc\Sigma_cΣc and L(G)=Lˉm(G)L(\mathcal G) = \bar L_m(\mathcal G)L(G)=Lˉm(G). Let K⊆Lm(G)K \subseteq L_m(\mathcal G)K⊆Lm(G) with K≠∅K \neq \emptysetK=∅. Then there exists a proper supervisor S\mathcal SS (with accessible automaton) with Lm(S/G)=KL_m(\mathcal S/\mathcal G) = KLm(S/G)=K if and only if KKK is controllable. Moreover, in that case every such proper supervisor satisfies

Lc(S/G)=Lm(G)∩Kˉ.L_c(\mathcal S/\mathcal G) = L_m(\mathcal G) \cap \bar K.Lc(S/G)=Lm(G)∩Kˉ.

This is the existence theorem for supervisors that realize a prescribed marked behaviour without blocking.

Formalization Note. The paper's "In that case" is formalized for every proper supervisor with accessible automaton and Lm(S/G)=KL_m(\mathcal S/\mathcal G) = KLm(S/G)=K, which is the stronger reading and holds because properness forces L(S/G)=KˉL(\mathcal S/\mathcal G) = \bar KL(S/G)=Kˉ.

/-- Ramadge–Wonham 1987, Theorem 6.1 (i), p. 216. Standing assumptions: `Σ` finite (p. 207),
`L(𝒢) = L̄_m(𝒢)` (§5, p. 213), supervisors accessible (p. 210). Let `K ⊆ L_m(𝒢)`, `K ≠ ∅`.
There is a proper supervisor `𝒮` with `L_m(𝒮/𝒢) = K` iff `K` is controllable; and in that case
(for every such `𝒮`) `L_c(𝒮/𝒢) = L_m(𝒢) ∩ K̄`. -/

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
