Let KKK be a finite abstract simplicial complex on s>0s>0s>0 vertices. Then there is an injective additive homomorphism

H1(∣K∣;Z)↪Hs+2(ZK;Z),H_1(|K|;\mathbb Z)\hookrightarrow H_{s+2}(\mathcal Z_K;\mathbb Z),H1(∣K∣;Z)↪Hs+2(ZK;Z),

where ∣K∣|K|∣K∣ is the barycentric-coordinate geometric realization and ZK\mathcal Z_KZK the disk-circle moment-angle complex on the same vertex set.

This is the summand of the polyhedral-product suspension splitting indexed by the full vertex set: the splitting expresses ΣZK\Sigma\mathcal Z_KΣZK as a wedge over subsets σ\sigmaσ of the vertex set of the suspensions Σ∣σ∣+1∣Kσ∣\Sigma^{|\sigma|+1}|K_\sigma|Σ∣σ∣+1∣Kσ∣, and taking σ\sigmaσ to be all sss vertices, so that Kσ=KK_\sigma=KKσ=K, contributes H1(∣K∣)H_1(|K|)H1(∣K∣) to H1+s+1(ZK)H_{1+s+1}(\mathcal Z_K)H1+s+1(ZK).

No hypotheses beyond s>0s>0s>0 are imposed on KKK. The statement is the special case L=KL=KL=K of the corresponding statement for a full subcomplex of an ambient complex; the general case follows from it because a full subcomplex realizes ZK\mathcal Z_KZK as a retract of ZL\mathcal Z_LZL.

Formalization Note All homology is integral singular homology, and the conclusion is an explicit injective additive homomorphism in the stated degrees.

Take the summand indexed by the full vertex set, of cardinality s; the suspension splitting gives degree s+2 before suspension.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
