Let KKK be a subfield of C\mathbb{C}C and ρ∈K\rho \in Kρ∈K non-zero. Let (x,y)∈C2(x, y) \in \mathbb{C}^{2}(x,y)∈C2 lie on the circle x2+y2=ρx^{2} + y^{2} = \rhox2+y2=ρ, with yyy transcendental over KKK. Then for every P∈K[X0,X1]P \in K[X_0, X_1]P∈K[X0,X1],

P(x,y)=0  ⟺  X02+X12−ρ divides P.P(x, y) = 0 \iff X_0^{2} + X_1^{2} - \rho \ \text{divides}\ P.P(x,y)=0⟺X02+X12−ρ divides P.

So every plane curve defined over KKK that passes through (x,y)(x, y)(x,y) contains the whole circle.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
