Regularity of f dtf\,dtfdt at every finite point of w2=h(t)w^2=h(t)w2=h(t) gives f w=a(t)+b(t) wf\,w=a(t)+b(t)\,wfw=a(t)+b(t)w with polynomials a,ba,ba,b

Let h∈C[t]h\in\mathbb C[t]h∈C[t] be a squarefree polynomial such that W2−h(t)W^2-h(t)W2−h(t) is irreducible over C(t)\mathbb C(t)C(t). Let Kh=C(t)[W]/(W2−h(t))K_h=\mathbb C(t)[W]/(W^2-h(t))Kh=C(t)[W]/(W2−h(t)), with www the class of WWW, so that w2=h(t)w^2=h(t)w2=h(t), and let ΩKh/C\Omega_{K_h/\mathbb C}ΩKh/C be its module of Kähler differentials, with universal derivation ddd. For a point (t0,w0)∈C2(t_0,w_0)\in\mathbb C^2(t0,w0)∈C2 with w02=h(t0)w_0^2=h(t_0)w02=h(t0), let O(t0,w0)⊂Kh\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}\subset K_hO(t0,w0)⊂Kh be the local ring at (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0) of the affine curve w2=h(t)w^2=h(t)w2=h(t), that is, the localization of C[t][W]/(W2−h)\mathbb C[t][W]/(W^2-h)C[t][W]/(W2−h) at the maximal ideal of (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0), viewed inside KhK_hKh. A differential ω∈ΩKh/C\omega\in\Omega_{K_h/\mathbb C}ω∈ΩKh/C is regular at (t0,w0)(t_0,w_0)(t0,w0) if f∈O(t0,w0)f\in\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}f∈O(t0,w0) whenever u∈O(t0,w0)u\in\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}u∈O(t0,w0) generates the maximal ideal of O(t0,w0)\mathcal O_{(t_0,w_0)}O(t0,w0) and ω=f du\omega=f\,duω=fdu with f∈Khf\in K_hf∈Kh.

Let f∈Khf\in K_hf∈Kh be such that f dtf\,dtfdt is regular at every point (t0,w0)∈C2(t_0,w_0)\in\mathbb C^2(t0,w0)∈C2 with w02=h(t0)w_0^2=h(t_0)w02=h(t0). Then there are polynomials a,b∈C[t]a,b\in\mathbb C[t]a,b∈C[t] such that

f w=a(t)+b(t) w.f\,w=a(t)+b(t)\,w .fw=a(t)+b(t)w.

No condition at infinity is involved. For h=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)h=-t(t^m+1)(\alpha t^m+\bar\alpha)h=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ), the double cover of the family, this is a step towards the description of the holomorphic differentials behind the genus clause of Lemma 4: combined with the condition at the place over t=∞t=\inftyt=∞, it shows that every holomorphic f dtf\,dtfdt has f=a(t)/wf=a(t)/wf=a(t)/w with deg⁡a<m\deg a<mdega<m.

Formalization Note: the squarefreeness of hhh and the irreducibility of W2−hW^2-hW2−h over C(t)\mathbb C(t)C(t) are Fact instances.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
