Let {ρi}i∈I\{\rho_i\}_{i\in I}{ρi}i∈I be a nonempty collection of star-shaped risk measures on a space X\mathcal XX of bounded positions containing the constants. Then the infimum

ρ∧(X)=inf⁡i∈Iρi(X),X∈X,\rho_\wedge(X)=\inf_{i\in I}\rho_i(X),\qquad X\in\mathcal X,ρ∧(X)=i∈Iinfρi(X),X∈X,

is a star-shaped risk measure.

This is the part of Theorem 1 that shows a minimum of convex risk measures is star-shaped, one direction of the representation theorem.

Formalization Note The index set is assumed nonempty (an empty collection has no real infimum). The infimum is Lean's ⨅ in R\mathbb RR; since inf⁡ωX(ω)≤ρi(X)≤sup⁡ωX(ω)\inf_\omega X(\omega)\le\rho_i(X)\le\sup_\omega X(\omega)infωX(ω)≤ρi(X)≤supωX(ω) for every risk measure, the family is bounded and the value is the true infimum.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
