Here L\mathcal{L}L is the set of logarithms of algebraic numbers (the z∈Cz \in \mathbb{C}z∈C with eze^zez algebraic), and L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L is the Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-vector space spanned by 111 and L\mathcal{L}L. Let FFF be the subfield of C\mathbb{C}C generated by L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L, that is, by Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q and L\mathcal{L}L. Let u∈Cu \in \mathbb{C}u∈C be transcendental over FFF, with uuˉu\bar uuuˉ algebraic, and put Lu=spanQ(L)+spanQ(u,uˉ)\mathcal{L}_u = \mathrm{span}_{\mathbb{Q}}(\mathcal{L}) + \mathrm{span}_{\mathbb{Q}}(u, \bar u)Lu=spanQ(L)+spanQ(u,uˉ); as L\mathcal{L}L is a Q\mathbb{Q}Q-vector space, this is L+Qu+Quˉ\mathcal{L} + \mathbb{Q}u + \mathbb{Q}\bar uL+Qu+Quˉ. Let ℓ11,ℓ12,ℓ21,ℓ22∈Lu\ell_{11}, \ell_{12}, \ell_{21}, \ell_{22} \in \mathcal{L}_uℓ11,ℓ12,ℓ21,ℓ22∈Lu be non-zero with ℓ11ℓ22=ℓ12ℓ21\ell_{11}\ell_{22} = \ell_{12}\ell_{21}ℓ11ℓ22=ℓ12ℓ21, and suppose the Q\mathbb{Q}Q-subalgebra of C\mathbb{C}C they generate has transcendence degree at most 111 over Q\mathbb{Q}Q. Then there are a,b∈Qa, b \in \mathbb{Q}a,b∈Q, not both zero, with aℓ11+bℓ21=aℓ12+bℓ22=0a\ell_{11} + b\ell_{21} = a\ell_{12} + b\ell_{22} = 0aℓ11+bℓ21=aℓ12+bℓ22=0 (the rows of the matrix (ℓij)(\ell_{ij})(ℓij) are linearly dependent over Q\mathbb{Q}Q), or with aℓ11+bℓ12=aℓ21+bℓ22=0a\ell_{11} + b\ell_{12} = a\ell_{21} + b\ell_{22} = 0aℓ11+bℓ12=aℓ21+bℓ22=0 (its columns are).

Proof. Apply the trichotomy DiazModulus.logAlg_adjoin_circle_point_trdeg_le_one_trichotomy to the four entries. If all lie in L\mathcal{L}L, their exponentials are algebraic and the four exponentials theorem in transcendence degree one (DiazModulus.four_exponentials_trdeg_one) gives the conclusion verbatim. If all are rijer_{ij}erije with rij∈Qr_{ij} \in \mathbb{Q}rij∈Q, then e≠0e \neq 0e=0, r11r22=r12r21r_{11}r_{22} = r_{12}r_{21}r11r22=r12r21, and (a,b)=(r21,−r11)≠(0,0)(a, b) = (r_{21}, -r_{11}) \neq (0, 0)(a,b)=(r21,−r11)=(0,0) makes the rows dependent. If all are piju+qijuˉp_{ij}u + q_{ij}\bar upiju+qijuˉ, DiazModulus.four_exp_barrier_of_no_quadratic_relation with e=(u,uˉ)e = (u, \bar u)e=(u,uˉ) applies once u,uˉu, \bar uu,uˉ satisfy no rational quadratic relation: au2+buuˉ+cuˉ2=0au^2 + bu\bar u + c\bar u^2 = 0au2+buuˉ+cuˉ2=0 times u2u^2u2 reads a(u2)2+bρu2+cρ2=0a(u^2)^2 + b\rho u^2 + c\rho^2 = 0a(u2)2+bρu2+cρ2=0 with ρ=uuˉ\rho = u\bar uρ=uuˉ algebraic and non-zero, and as u2u^2u2 is transcendental, Transcendence.quadratic_coeffs_eq_zero_of_transcendental gives a=b=c=0a = b = c = 0a=b=c=0.

Novelty. With Lu\mathcal{L}_uLu in place of L\mathcal{L}L, this is the four exponentials theorem in transcendence degree one (Waldschmidt 1973, Brownawell 1974), from which it is derived. Not found in the sources read; routine.

Restates the four exponentials theorem in transcendence degree one (M. Waldschmidt, Solution du huitième problème de Schneider, J. Number Theory 5 (1973), 191–202; W. D. Brownawell, The algebraic independence of certain numbers related by the exponential function, J. Number Theory 6 (1974), 22–31) with ℒ replaced by ℒ_u = ℒ + ℚu + ℚū. The ℒ_u form was not found in the sources read. Uses DiazModulus.logAlg_adjoin_circle_point_trdeg_le_one_trichotomy, DiazModulus.four_exponentials_trdeg_one, DiazModulus.four_exp_barrier_of_no_quadratic_relation and Transcendence.quadratic_coeffs_eq_zero_of_transcendental.
