Let f:N→Cf:\mathbb N\to\mathbb Cf:N→C, let a≥0a\ge0a≥0, and put M(N)=∑n=1Nf(n)M(N)=\sum_{n=1}^Nf(n)M(N)=∑n=1Nf(n). The following three conditions are equivalent:

M(N)=Oε(Na+ε)for every ε>0;∑n=1Nf(n)n−σ converges as N→∞for every real σ>a;∑n=1Nf(n)n−s converges as N→∞for every complex s with Re⁡s>a.\begin{aligned} &M(N)=O_\varepsilon(N^{a+\varepsilon})\quad\text{for every }\varepsilon>0;\\ &\sum_{n=1}^N f(n)n^{-\sigma}\text{ converges as }N\to\infty\quad\text{for every real }\sigma>a;\\ &\sum_{n=1}^N f(n)n^{-s}\text{ converges as }N\to\infty\quad\text{for every complex }s\text{ with }\operatorname{Re}s>a. \end{aligned}M(N)=Oε(Na+ε)for every ε>0;n=1∑Nf(n)n−σ converges as N→∞for every real σ>a;n=1∑Nf(n)n−s converges as N→∞for every complex s with Res>a.

All convergence assertions concern the ordinary ordered partial sums. This identifies the growth threshold of signed coefficient sums with the corresponding open half-plane of Dirichlet convergence. It asserts no convergence on the boundary and requires no absolute-convergence hypothesis.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
