Let ppp be a bivariate real polynomial and x:Rx : \mathbb{R}x:R any coefficient coordinate, and write Specialized0 x p\mathrm{Specialized0}\,x\,pSpecialized0xp for the univariate real polynomial obtained by evaluating the XCoeff\mathrm{XCoeff}XCoeff-coefficients of Curry0 p\mathrm{Curry0}\,pCurry0p at xxx. Then specialization cannot raise the degree:

(Specialized0 x p).natDegree≤p.totalDegree.{(\mathrm{Specialized0}\,x\,p).\mathrm{natDegree} \leq p.\mathrm{totalDegree}.}(Specialized0xp).natDegree≤p.totalDegree.

This uniform fiber-degree bound says every vertical fiber polynomial has degree at most the total degree of ppp, so each fiber contributes at most deg⁡p\deg pdegp common zeros. It is applied at every fiber in the pair-intersection estimates to bound the fiber size independently of xxx.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
