Let nnn jobs have integral processing times pj>0p_j>0pj>0, integral release dates rj≥0r_j\ge0rj≥0 and weights wj>0w_j>0wj>0, indexed in nonincreasing order of wj/pjw_j/p_jwj/pj, and let 0<αk≤10<\alpha_k\le10<αk≤1 for every kkk. Fix a job jjj; let tj(0+)t_j(0^+)tj(0+), N1N_1N1, N2N_2N2 and μk\mu_kμk be as in the LP schedule, and write ηk=ηk(αj)\eta_k=\eta_k(\alpha_j)ηk=ηk(αj). Then the completion time of jjj in the (αj)(\alpha_j)(αj)-schedule satisfies

Cjα ≤ tj(0+)+∑k∈N1αk≤ηk(1+αk−ηk) pk+∑k∈N2αj>μk(1+αk) pk+(1+αj) pj.C^{\boldsymbol\alpha}_j\ \le\ t_j(0^+)+\sum_{\substack{k\in N_1\\ \alpha_k\le\eta_k}}(1+\alpha_k-\eta_k)\,p_k+\sum_{\substack{k\in N_2\\ \alpha_j>\mu_k}}(1+\alpha_k)\,p_k+(1+\alpha_j)\,p_j .Cjα ≤ tj(0+)+k∈N1αk≤ηk∑(1+αk−ηk)pk+k∈N2αj>μk∑(1+αk)pk+(1+αj)pj.

The first sum is the delay caused by jobs outside jjj's processing window, the second the delay caused by jobs inside it. Property (i) of Lemma 3.11 bounds the first and property (ii) the second in the proof of Theorem 3.9.

Formalization Note. ηk\eta_kηk is taken at αj\alpha_jαj for every kkk, as in the paper, where it is constant in αj\alpha_jαj on N1N_1N1.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
