This is a finite-dimensional Hilbert–Schmidt counting estimate, corresponding to the disjoint-copy-block estimate used after (112) in Bizeul–Klartag–Lehec, Proposition 7.1.

Let ι\iotaι and κ\kappaκ be finite types, let d>0d>0d>0, and let

A:(Fin⁡(d)→Option⁡(κ×ι))→R.A:(\operatorname{Fin}(d)\to\operatorname{Option}(\kappa\times\iota))\to\mathbb R.A:(Fin(d)→Option(κ×ι))→R.

Then the entries indexed by the disjoint blocks (i,j)(i,j)(i,j) form a subfamily of all entries, and therefore

∑i∈κ∑j:Fin⁡(d)→ιA(k↦some⁡(i,j(k)))2≤∑J:Fin⁡(d)→Option⁡(κ×ι)A(J)2.\sum_{i\in\kappa}\sum_{j:\operatorname{Fin}(d)\to\iota} A\bigl(k\mapsto \operatorname{some}(i,j(k))\bigr)^2 \le \sum_{J:\operatorname{Fin}(d)\to\operatorname{Option}(\kappa\times\iota)}A(J)^2.i∈κ∑j:Fin(d)→ι∑A(k↦some(i,j(k)))2≤J:Fin(d)→Option(κ×ι)∑A(J)2.

The statement is a technical injectivity-and-counting lemma for block decompositions.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
