Let CCC be a ddd-dimensional good complex over VVV, let rrr be a proper coloring of CCC, and let B=B(C,r)⊆Vd+1B = B(C, r) \subseteq V^{d+1}B=B(C,r)⊆Vd+1 be the pseudo-cube defined by CCC and rrr. The following are equivalent:

  1. there is a square v0→v1→v2→v3→v0v_0 \to v_1 \to v_2 \to v_3 \to v_0v0→v1→v2→v3→v0 in CCC with r(v0)=r(v2)r(v_0) = r(v_2)r(v0)=r(v2) and r(v1)=r(v3)r(v_1) = r(v_3)r(v1)=r(v3);
  2. the Natarajan dimension of BBB, viewed as a class of functions [d+1]→V[d+1] \to V[d+1]→V, is at least 222:
dN(B)≥2.d_N(B) \ge 2 .dN(B)≥2.

This translates the Natarajan dimension of a pseudo-cube into a local combinatorial property of the complex.

Formalization Note BBB is a class over the domain Fin (d + 1) with labels in VVV, and dN(B)d_N(B)dN(B) is the shared N∞\mathbb N_\inftyN∞-valued Natarajan dimension.

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
