For an indexed configuration p=(p1,…,pn)p=(p_1,\dots,p_n)p=(p1,…,pn) of points in the plane and a real number sss, FarOrderedPairs p s is the set of ordered pairs of distinct indices whose points are farther apart than sss:

Fp(s)={ (a,b): a≠b, ∣pa−pb∣>s }.F_p(s)=\{\,(a,b):\ a\ne b,\ |p_a-p_b|>s\,\}.Fp(s)={(a,b): a=b, ∣pa−pb∣>s}.

Apex-counting arguments bound the size of this set from above and from below.

Formalization Note The set is a Finset (Fin n × Fin n); each unordered pair is counted in both orders.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
