Here L\mathcal{L}L is the set of logarithms of algebraic numbers, and L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L is the Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-vector space spanned by 111 and L\mathcal{L}L. Roy's strong six exponentials theorem is carried as the hypothesis hSSE: if x1,x2x_1, x_2x1,x2 are Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-linearly independent and so are y1,y2,y3y_1, y_2, y_3y1,y2,y3, then one of the six products xiyjx_iy_jxiyj is not in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.

  1. Let λ0,λ1,λ2∈L~\lambda_0, \lambda_1, \lambda_2 \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ0,λ1,λ2∈L with (λ0,λ2,λˉ2)(\lambda_0, \lambda_2, \bar\lambda_2)(λ0,λ2,λˉ2) linearly independent over Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q and λ1/λ0∈(R∪iR)∖Q‾\lambda_1/\lambda_0 \in (\mathbb{R} \cup i\mathbb{R}) \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}λ1/λ0∈(R∪iR)∖Q. Then λ1λ2/λ0∉L~\lambda_1\lambda_2/\lambda_0 \notin \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ1λ2/λ0∈/L.
  2. Let λ1,λ2∈L~\lambda_1, \lambda_2 \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ1,λ2∈L with (λ1,λ2,λ1λ2)(\lambda_1, \lambda_2, \lambda_1\lambda_2)(λ1,λ2,λ1λ2) linearly independent. Then λ1λ2\lambda_1\lambda_2λ1λ2 and λ1/λ2\lambda_1/\lambda_2λ1/λ2 are not both in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.
  3. Let λ1,λ2∈L~\lambda_1, \lambda_2 \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ1,λ2∈L with λ2≠0\lambda_2 \neq 0λ2=0 and (1,λ1,1/λ2)(1, \lambda_1, 1/\lambda_2)(1,λ1,1/λ2) linearly independent. Then λ1λ2\lambda_1\lambda_2λ1λ2 and 1/λ21/\lambda_21/λ2 are not both in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L. In particular, for λ∈L~∖Q‾\lambda \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}λ∈L∖Q, λ2\lambda^2λ2 and 1/λ1/\lambda1/λ are not both in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.
  4. Let λ0,λ1∈L~\lambda_0, \lambda_1 \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ0,λ1∈L with (λ02,λ1,λ0λ1)(\lambda_0^2, \lambda_1, \lambda_0\lambda_1)(λ02,λ1,λ0λ1) linearly independent. Then λ1/λ0\lambda_1/\lambda_0λ1/λ0 and λ1/λ02\lambda_1/\lambda_0^2λ1/λ02 are not both in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L. In particular, for λ∈L~∖Q‾\lambda \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}λ∈L∖Q, 1/λ1/\lambda1/λ and 1/λ21/\lambda^21/λ2 are not both in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.

Proof. Each part is the quotient form of the theorem (DiazModulus.strong_six_exponentials_iff_quotient_form) applied to one family, as in Diaz's proof: (λ0,λ1,λ2,λˉ2)(\lambda_0, \lambda_1, \lambda_2, \bar\lambda_2)(λ0,λ1,λ2,λˉ2), (λ1λ2,λ1,λ2,λ1)(\lambda_1\lambda_2, \lambda_1, \lambda_2, \lambda_1)(λ1λ2,λ1,λ2,λ1), (1/λ2,1,λ1,1)(1/\lambda_2, 1, \lambda_1, 1)(1/λ2,1,λ1,1) and (1,λ0,λ1/λ0,λ1/λ02)(1, \lambda_0, \lambda_1/\lambda_0, \lambda_1/\lambda_0^2)(1,λ0,λ1/λ0,λ1/λ02). In part 1 the second number λ1λˉ2/λ0\lambda_1\bar\lambda_2/\lambda_0λ1λˉ2/λ0 is ±\pm± the conjugate of the first.

Novelty. None: this is Corollaire 1 (PQ) of Diaz (2007), pp. 379–380, with his proof (p. 381). Part 1 relaxes the hypotheses of Corollary 2.9 of Waldschmidt's Variations. The contribution of this node is the formal proof.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
