Let CCC be a convex subset of a real normed space with ∥x−y∥≤D\|x-y\|\le D∥x−y∥≤D for all x,y∈Cx,y\in Cx,y∈C, let K ⁣:C→CK\colon C\to CK:C→C be nonexpansive, let 0<α<10<\alpha<10<α<1, and let P=(1−α)I+αKP=(1-\alpha)I+\alpha KP=(1−α)I+αK. Then for every x∈Cx\in Cx∈C and every n≥1n\ge1n≥1,

∥Pn(x)−K(Pn(x))∥≤Dπ n α(1−α).\bigl\|P^n(x)-K(P^n(x))\bigr\|\le\frac{D}{\sqrt{\pi\,n\,\alpha(1-\alpha)}}.Pn(x)−K(Pn(x))≤πnα(1−α)D.

The iterates xn=Pn(x)x_n=P^n(x)xn=Pn(x) are the Krasnoselskii–Mann iterates xk=(1−α)xk−1+αKxk−1x_{k}=(1-\alpha)x_{k-1}+\alpha Kx_{k-1}xk=(1−α)xk−1+αKxk−1 with constant step α\alphaα, so this is the bound ∥xn−Kxn∥≤diam⁡(C)/π∑i=1nαi(1−αi)\|x_n-Kx_n\|\le\operatorname{diam}(C)/\sqrt{\pi\sum_{i=1}^n\alpha_i(1-\alpha_i)}∥xn−Kxn∥≤diam(C)/π∑i=1nαi(1−αi) for αi≡α\alpha_i\equiv\alphaαi≡α. The space need not be complete, and KKK need not have a fixed point.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
