Let hhh be a bivariate real polynomial whose currying Curry0(h)\mathrm{Curry}_0(h)Curry0(h) (viewed as a univariate polynomial over the coefficient ring) has natDegree=0\mathrm{natDegree} = 0natDegree=0, and let x∈Rx \in \mathbb{R}x∈R be a real root of its constant coefficient, i.e. eval(x,(Curry0(h)).coeff 0)=0\mathrm{eval}(x, (\mathrm{Curry}_0(h)).\mathrm{coeff}\,0) = 0eval(x,(Curry0(h)).coeff0)=0. Then the vertical-line polynomial X1−xX_1 - xX1−x divides hhh:

CoeffLineFactor(x)∣h.\mathrm{CoeffLineFactor}(x) \mid h.CoeffLineFactor(x)∣h.

This extracts a vertical-line factor from a degenerate (constant-in-the-eliminated-variable) currying, and is used to classify the fibers over which specialization vanishes identically.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
