Let u∈C∖Q‾u \in \mathbb{C} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u∈C∖Q and let s∈Q‾s \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}s∈Q be real with s2=uuˉs^2 = u\bar us2=uuˉ. Let g∈Cg \in \mathbb{C}g∈C be such that 1,u,uˉ,g,ug1, u, \bar u, g, ug1,u,uˉ,g,ug are free over Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q and gˉ∈Q‾+Q‾u+Q‾ug\bar g \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}uggˉ∈Q+Qu+Qug. Then there are λ∈Q‾\lambda \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}λ∈Q with λλˉ=1\lambda\bar\lambda = 1λλˉ=1 and a real fff such that Q‾+Q‾u+Q‾uˉ+Q‾g+Q‾ug=Q‾+Q‾u+Q‾uˉ+Q‾f+Q‾f/(s+λu)\overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}g + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}ug = \overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}f + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}f/(s + \lambda u)Q+Qu+Quˉ+Qg+Qug=Q+Qu+Quˉ+Qf+Qf/(s+λu).

The spaces Q‾+Q‾u+Q‾uˉ+Q‾g+Q‾ug\overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar u + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}g + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}ugQ+Qu+Quˉ+Qg+Qug are those that carry the configuration (1,u)⊗(u−1,1,g)(1, u) \otimes (u^{-1}, 1, g)(1,u)⊗(u−1,1,g). The hypothesis on gˉ\bar ggˉ says that conjugation maps this configuration to one of the same shape. With DiazModulus.conj_stable_real_pencil_space_carries_two_by_three_configuration it shows that the family W(λ,f)W(\lambda, f)W(λ,f) is all of them.

Proof. Write gˉ=a+bu+c ug\bar g = a + bu + c\,uggˉ=a+bu+cug. Conjugating and substituting uˉ=s2/u\bar u = s^2/uuˉ=s2/u gives (1−ccˉs2)g∈Q‾+Q‾uˉ(1 - c\bar c s^2)g \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}} + \overline{\mathbb{Q}}\bar u(1−ccˉs2)g∈Q+Quˉ, so by freeness ccˉs2=1c\bar cs^2 = 1ccˉs2=1, aˉ=−cˉs2b\bar a = -\bar c s^2 baˉ=−cˉs2b and bˉ=−cˉa\bar b = -\bar c abˉ=−cˉa. With q=a/(cs2)q = a/(cs^2)q=a/(cs2), g′=g+quˉg' = g + q\bar ug′=g+quˉ satisfies g′ˉ=c ug′\bar{g'} = c\,ug'g′ˉ=cug′. Put λ=cs\lambda = csλ=cs, so ∣λ∣=1|\lambda| = 1∣λ∣=1, and f=g′(s+λu)f = g'(s + \lambda u)f=g′(s+λu); then fˉ=f\bar f = ffˉ=f and f/(s+λu)=g′f/(s + \lambda u) = g'f/(s+λu)=g′. The two spans agree generator by generator, using ug′=ug+qs2ug' = ug + qs^2ug′=ug+qs2 and f=sg′+λug′f = sg' + \lambda ug'f=sg′+λug′.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
