Composition of fixed-point approximations (Corollary 2.8)

Proved
IntMul.HvdH.fp_comp

by xuanji · Oct 12, 2026 · Mathlib 0df444a (Lean v4.33.1)

integer-multiplication

Let A~\tilde AA~ approximate AAA with error ε1\varepsilon_1ε1 and B~\tilde BB~ approximate BBB with error ε2\varepsilon_2ε2 at precision ppp, in the sense of FPApprox (IntMul_HvdH_FPApprox). Suppose BBB is 111-Lipschitz for the sup norm. Then B~∘A~\tilde B\circ\tilde AB~∘A~ approximates B∘AB\circ AB∘A with error

ε(B~A~)≤ε1+ε2.\varepsilon(\tilde B\tilde A)\le\varepsilon_1+\varepsilon_2.ε(B~A~)≤ε1+ε2.

This is Corollary 2.8 of Harvey–van der Hoeven, stated for fixed-point arrays of Gaussian integers.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
