Let ρ:X→R\rho:\mathcal X\to\mathbb Rρ:X→R be a star-shaped risk measure on a space X\mathcal XX of bounded positions containing the constants, with a representation

ρ(X)=min⁡γ∈Γγ(X),X∈X,(11)\rho(X)=\min_{\gamma\in\Gamma}\gamma(X),\qquad X\in\mathcal X,\qquad(11)ρ(X)=γ∈Γminγ(X),X∈X,(11)

where Γ\GammaΓ is a collection of convex risk measures. Then for every subset Y⊆X\mathcal Y\subseteq\mathcal XY⊆X,

inf⁡X∈Yρ(X)=inf⁡γ∈Γ inf⁡X∈Yγ(X).\inf_{X\in\mathcal Y}\rho(X)=\inf_{\gamma\in\Gamma}\ \inf_{X\in\mathcal Y}\gamma(X).X∈Yinfρ(X)=γ∈Γinf X∈Yinfγ(X).

Optimizing a star-shaped risk measure is therefore a family of convex risk-minimization problems, one for each γ∈Γ\gamma\in\Gammaγ∈Γ.

Formalization Note The infima are taken in the extended reals [−∞,+∞][-\infty,+\infty][−∞,+∞] (EReal), so that Y\mathcal YY may be empty (both sides are +∞+\infty+∞) and the infima may be −∞-\infty−∞. Representation (11) is IsLeast at every XXX.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
