This is a measurable translation-invariance criterion for almost-everywhere constancy.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product normed additive group with its Borel measurable structure, and let mmm be an additive Haar measure. For a measurable function g:V→Rg:V\to\mathbb Rg:V→R, assume that every translation preserves ggg almost everywhere:

∀v∈V,g(x+v)=g(x)for m-almost every x.\forall v\in V,\qquad g(x+v)=g(x)\quad\text{for $m$-almost every }x.∀v∈V,g(x+v)=g(x)for m-almost every x.

Then there exists a constant c∈Rc\in\mathbb Rc∈R such that

g(x)=cfor m-almost every x. g(x)=c\quad\text{for $m$-almost every }x.g(x)=cfor m-almost every x.

The Lean declaration is exists_ae_eq_const_of_measurable_of_forall_ae_add_eq_readable. It is a reusable measure-theoretic auxiliary lemma; the conclusion is existential and only asserts equality almost everywhere.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
