Let q,i,j,t1,t2,t3q,i,j,t_1,t_2,t_3q,i,j,t1,t2,t3 be pairwise distinct stacks of a state σ\sigmaσ, and let stop be a symbol different from the bit codes 000 and 111. Let WWW be a list of bits such that the input word III contains, starting at the current input position σ.ip\sigma.\mathrm{ip}σ.ip, the codes of the bits of WWW (most significant first) followed by stop (positions past the end of III read as codeEnd). Assume the tops of t1,t2,t3t_1,t_2,t_3t1,t2,t3 are not bit symbols. Then readR q i j t1 t2 t3 stop runs from σ\sigmaσ to the state in which

i+=enc(val(W)),j+=enc(2∣W∣),ip:=σ.ip+∣W∣+1,i \mathrel{+}= \mathrm{enc}(\mathrm{val}(W)),\qquad j \mathrel{+}= \mathrm{enc}(2^{|W|}),\qquad \mathrm{ip} := \sigma.\mathrm{ip}+|W|+1,i+=enc(val(W)),j+=enc(2∣W∣),ip:=σ.ip+∣W∣+1,

(pushing onto the existing contents of iii and jjj), with cost at most readRCost(∣W∣)\mathrm{readRCost}(|W|)readRCost(∣W∣), which is linear in ∣W∣|W|∣W∣. Here val(W)\mathrm{val}(W)val(W) is the platform's big-endian value of a bit list.

This is how the top-level program reads its two inputs xxx (terminated by the separator #) and yyy (terminated by the end of input), together with the rulers 2n2^n2n used later for output.

Formalization Note. Machine states are St S records: stacks stk : Fin S → List Sym over the 16-letter alphabet Sym = Fin 16 (head = top), input position ip and output out; σ.set i L replaces stack i. An integer item is stored as (Item.int z).enc: a sign header followed by the minimal binary magnitude, least significant bit nearest the header; bitOf detects bit symbols, and the hypotheses bitOf (…).head? = none say that the following stack content does not start with a bit (so item boundaries are recognisable). Runs I prog p σ σ' c means p runs from σ to exactly σ' with some cost c′≤cc'\le cc′≤c; the procedures prog and input I are arbitrary.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
